Kevin Dixon

“The brand metaphor helped focus my interactions with clients on the details of how I could help them, all done in a way that is simple for them to understand.”

The problem

Phoenix patent attorney Kevin C. Dixon came to us for some assistance in creating a stronger, more authoritative brand. He wanted something that would really resonate with his target audience, and help them to understand that they really were in good hands when he was on the case.

Here’s what he had to work with when he first came to us:

Kevin’s website and marketing materials just weren’t conveying what they needed to about his practice, so he came to Forty to rebuild his brand from the ground up.

Forty’s solution

After digging deep into what Kevin provides for his clients, it became apparent that he was the ultimate protector of his clients’ ideas, processes, way of doing business, and more.

The legal profession is a revered industry with a rich history, so we wanted to capture this aspect of his brand by selecting a metaphor that represented protection and appealed to its regal nature as well.

Because chess is a classic game of strategy and protection of the all-important King (the client), it makes the game a perfect fit for Kevin’s brand.

From this metaphor, we created a logo and tagline pair that reflected Kevin’s sense of security and strength and incorporated both traditional imagery and verbiage of safety with a chess influences. We applied these elements to his brand, creating a strong foundation to build his business, website, and marketing direction.
